Message from the President

It has been busy at the club since the last Newsletter. The Trivia Night held on June 20th was attended by about 50 people who all had a fun evening. Then on June 21st, the Ladies Division hosted their annual Field Day with 92 participants. It was a nice sunny day but the high winds made for difficult conditions. The overall low gross winner was Joanie McCarville of Ashburn with a score of 83 and the low net of the field was won by Karen Paley, Northumberland, with a score of 69.

The first 9 and Dine of the season was held on June 23 with a good turnout.

And, the Northumberland Classic was held this past weekend with 75 players. The overall winner was Stu Musgrave of Country Meadows, NB.

We welcome new members: Neil Moffatt, Jeff Miles, Mike Dow, Lynne Crowell, Donna Beaton and Stephen MacQuarrie.

The Club needs more members to buy a ticket and sell a ticket for our fundraising raffle for the Quebec Trip or $8,000.

  • As of Friday, June 23rd, we have reached the break-even point – 170 tickets sold
  • Now the money from every ticket sold is profit for the club.
  • Less than 2 weeks left to buy tickets, so don’t delay
  • The club needs your support – we need the funds to pay for the recent renovations
  • If ‘every member buys a ticket and sells a ticket’ there is the potential for the club to make $16,000 and the cost of the downstairs renovations will be covered.
  • You don’t have to be a club member of a golfer to buy a ticket.

Message from the Course Superintendent

The golf course playing standards that we look forward to all winter are finally here. Some of the high traffic areas between greens and tees have been sodded to help freshen these spots up. Over the next few weeks, efforts will continue to help growth in the thin spots on fairways. The finish grading work required to prepare the white tee on #16 for sod has begun and plans are to sod as soon as possible.

Any member who would like to get a first-hand look at the morning golf course maintenance activities is welcome to arrange a day and time to join me for a few hours at dawn to assist with the daily course set up. To make arrangements call me at 902 243-2119 or send an e-mail to

Message from the Fundraising Committee

The weekly member 50/50 snowball has started. Since there wasn’t a winner for week one, the $84 collected ’snowballs’ to the next draw date of June 27th at 5:30 pm and becomes part of the ‘pot’. Remember you have to be in it to win it! Sign up next to the bar on the main floor of the clubhouse.

Message from the Social Committee

One of our new members has withdrawn as she broke her knee cap. Ouch! It was Lynn Crowell.

Message from the Dining Room

Don’t forget that every Sunday evening the dining room features a Turkey Dinner with all the fixings and the favourite Pan Fried Haddock dinner.

Soon we will have a Take Out Menu and a Children’s Menu.

New beverages now available include two Gluten Free Ciders and Radlers.

And, be sure to stop by to satisfy your sweet tooth with one of Bill’s delicious Butter Tarts.

Message from the Ladies Division

On Tuesday, July 11th, the Women’s Division of Northumberland Links is holding their annual Phyllis O’Connell Memorial Food Bank Tournament. The tournament is open to all women members. Non-members are welcome to play for the current green fees.

All Northumberland Links members are urged to donate to this worthy cause. The Open Hamper Food Bank needs support during the summer months when donations are down and the school’s breakfast program is not available.

Donations of $5.00 or more will receive a receipt for tax purposes. Contributions may be dropped off at the pro-shop, given to Donna Murray or Elaine Cook.

The sign-up sheets are on the Ladies Bulletin Board. Cut off date is July 8. If you have not registered call the pro-shop. There may have been cancellations.
